Call on Glastonbury Festival to boycott Allianz (Open Letter)

Cambridge PSC is supporting a call for Glastonbury to boycott Allianz as their insurer.

Allianz is the 6th largest insurer of fossil fuels globally, as well as, a major backer of the weapons and border industries. Allianz continues to insure and invest in companies such as Elbit Systems, Chevron and Serco, whose business actively enables climate destruction, the Israeli genocide of Palestinians, and the violent detention of migrants.

Glastonbury Festival has a proud tradition of standing for justice, climate action, and international solidarity. As one of the world’s most celebrated cultural events, but we recently found out that Allianz provide insurance coverage for the event.

Allianz is:

World's 6th largest insurer of fossil fuels.
Insures Elbit Systems who supply weapons used in the Gaza Genocide.
Invests in Serco the leading abuser of migrants in the UK.

Glastonbury is a cultural force, and by choosing who it partners with, the festival sends a powerful message about its ongoing commitment to justice and liberation. Glastonbury can help set a new standard for ethical partnerships in the music and culture industry.

We are targeting insurance companies that invest in and underwrite the Israeli genocidal project in Palestine, fossil fuels, weapons, and the border detention industry.

Through public pressure and grassroots organisation, we aim to disrupt the financial lifelines that sustain these destructive industries and pressure insurers to cut their ties. Without insurance, complicit companies – like Elbit, BP, Maersk, and Serco – would be unable to operate.
