Boycott Tesco Bank

Barclays has acquired ownership of Tesco Bank. This means that Barclays is now operating under the Tesco Bank name and brand. As part of our call to boycott Barclays because of its grave complicity in Israel’s atrocities against Palestinians, we are now calling on all Tesco Bank customers to shut their accounts. If you’re a Tesco Bank (or Barclays) customer, pledge to close your account on our next mass account closure day, 21 November. We will send you all the information you need to make a difference.

You may have seen reports that Barclays currently holds no shares in Elbit Systems. This could indicate the start of a permanent divestment and that shows the power of our movement, however we can’t let Barclays off the hook by lifting the pressure. Barclays hasn't confirmed that it won’t re-invest, and the bank continues to provide billions of pounds worth of financing to other arms companies supplying Israel’s genocide. It is disgraceful that Barclays is able to deceive people by operating under Tesco Bank. We must keep up the pressure.

Barclays is facing mounting pressure over its role in enabling Israel’s war crimes.

This summer, hundreds of artists and music industry professionals refused to perform at Barclays sponsored festivals, forcing Barclays to abandon its sponsorship of this year’s music festivals.

This month, it was also confirmed that Barclays won’t be sponsoring The Great Escape festival next year.

Barclays is now trying to hide its damaged reputation by operating under the Tesco Bank brand.

If you’re a Tesco Bank or Barclays customer be sure to join the next mass account closure day on 21 November 2024.
