Ask Your MP to Support the Global Sumud Flotilla (Letter Campaign)
ACTIONS
Dear [Name of your MP]
I am contacting you to ask if you would please show your support for the Global Sumud Flotilla by signing Early Day Motion 1782.
This Early Day Motion calls on the Government to ensure safe passage of the Global Sumud Flotilla, the largest humanitarian flotilla ever organised to provide aid to Gaza. The Flotilla is a coordinated international effort carrying elected representatives, lawyers, doctors, notable artists and activists from over 44 countries, united in their call for justice and humanity. It recalls that UN experts have affirmed the right of the people of Gaza to receive aid through their own territorial waters, and the right of humanitarian vessels to free passage in international waters. It addresses the urgent need of the Government to support international efforts to end the blockade and uphold legal and moral obligations to stop starvation in Gaza.
Many UK citizens are currently sailing to Gaza because they feel so helpless in the face of the greatest "humanitarian disaster in our life time". They are sailing to take vital food and medicine to Gaza, because they feel their government has failed to act. These are retired nurses, active paramedics, mothers and fathers who have hugged their children goodbye and sailed to try and bring food to the children of Gaza. The siege is collective punishment and outlawed by international law and it is essential that we ensure the safe passage of these vessels.
Please sign the Early Day Motion 1782 to show your support for this important cause and encourage your colleagues to sign it as well.
